Food Security through Commercialization of Agriculture (FSCA) GTFS/SIL/028/ITA
 OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Reducing rural poverty and household food insecurity on a sustainable basis.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE: Increasing on a sustainable basis agricultural productivity, marketed output and incomes of project beneficiary farmer-based organizations, in order to improve their livelihoods and food security.

PROJECT AREA: Kono and Koinadugu districts.

COMPONENTS:
- Support capacity building of farmer-based organizations, aimed at establishing/strengthening sustainable organizations which function as effective commercial mechanisms to increase production and value addition, and improve marketing;
- Support for value addition and marketing, which will build the capacities of the farmer-based organizations supported under the previous component and strengthen service provision to support value addition and value chain processes, as well as value chain coordination and linkages;
- Project coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Sub-Regional Cooperation.

BENEFICIARIES: The projects targets primarily smallholder farmers and processors in existing or newly established farmer-based organizations which are engaged in production, processing and/or marketing of agricultural produce. The project also supports county level associations and county governments.
